He started his racing career as a race official. He progressed to becoming a team owner and professional racecar driver. Al has competed in Pro SCCA, NASA, and CART, racing in the Formula Atlantic, Winston West, and Indy Lights Series. Al has 3 track records, 1 Professional Race Series Championship, 2 Divisional Championships, and has competed in the Pacific Road Racing Championship 4 times of which he has been on the podium 3 times. In his last 25 racing starts he has finished every race and has been on the podium 22 times. As a result, Al has 6 times been in the top 3 overall series championships in Pro, National, and Regional Championship Series. He was a Yokohama Tires test driver and was named to Valvoline’s All Star Race Team. He has been a driver observer for SCCA, IMSA, NASCAR, and CART.
Currently Al is competing in the US Tour Car Championship Series. Last year he was named Rookie of the Year for the series and finished fifth in points in his class.
